Tuesday Schmidt is a professional artist and designer living and working in Kansas City, Missouri. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from University of Missouri Kansas City. Collaborative art experiences have been a significant influence in her creative process. In 2007 she collaborated to create Studio Rojo, a printmaking collective, including five artists, influential in Kansas City being the hosting city for the Southern Graphics Conference International annual exhibit. During the conference Studio Rojo set a Guinness World Record for longest print created. The collaboration was led by the five founding artists and over 100 participants assisting in the transfer of the 90-foot linoleum print to paper. In 2009 she created and curated the first Xx Chromosome collaborative show. The intent was to encourage and educate emerging Kansas City women artists in the process of preparing a gallery showing. Her mission was to pair established artists with emerging artists to help cultivate artistic mentorships. At the end of that year, Xx Chromosome was invited to Studio 2131 in Alaska, emerging their local artists with Kansas City participants. Her current work explores taking her studies in watercolor in small formats and transitioning that work to considerably larger canvases. The intimacy of detail mixed with spontaneity and exploration have been the key informers in her recent work. She lives with four fantastically creative children, her painter husband and a menagerie of animals. Additionally, she is an illustrator, installation designer and trend researcher for Hallmark Cards.
